Widad Al Freij Scholarship and Financial Aid Fund

About the Scholarship and Financial Aid Fund
Al Raja's mission is to serve the students of Bahrain through providing a quality education.  From its inception in 1899, the school has sought to serve all segments of society.  Starting on the porch Ms. Amy Zwemer, the school was open to anyone who wanted to show up!  Much has changed over the years, but Al Raja's mission is still the same - serve the students of Bahrain.  To help fulfill our goal, we have started a scholarship and financial aid fund.

About Widad Al Freij
Widad Al Freij came to Al Raja School in 1973 from Palestine specifically to teach at Al Raja School, serving the school for over 40 years.  During her time she was a teacher and a supervisor, and thousands of students passed through her classroom and through her halls. She passed away in 2013.  We are happy to establish this fund to honor her memory of the years of service she gave to her students.

Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship fund covers the cost of tuition, and is specifically for students whose families cannot afford a private school education (and are currently enrolled in a government school).   It is open for one student each year entering Grade 9 and whose families meet the financial criteria outlined in the application form.   More information on the requirements can be found in the application on the right.

Financial Aid Fund

The Financial Aid fund is specifically for the families who currently attend Al Raja School.  Families who are facing an extraordinary financial circumstance may apply to the school for Aid.  More information on the requirements to receive Aid may be found in the application on the right.  Submitting an application is not a guarantee for aid to be awarded.  Aid will be awarded based on the need of the family and availability of funds.
